    Freedom from Pain

    Monday, June 30, 2008, 10:18 PM [General]

A very good friend of mine has Multiple Sclerosis.  He has the secondary progressive type.  A very scary thing to find out that one of your greatest friends has MS.  Some of you might know that treatment is very far off.  The National MS Society recently published an article on the use of medical marijuana and the treatment of MS.

Several countries (Not USA) have developed marijuana in a pill form that not only decreases pain but also helps with the cramps and muscle spasms that are often felt when a person suffers from MS.  The pill is also administered to cancer patients undergoing Chemo-Therapy to increase appetite and also help to keep down food.

I know several people who use marijuana as medicine and nothing more.  I know doctors, lawyers, sales associates, and disabled alike that use medical marijuana.  Unfortunately, there is nothing on the Pharmaceutical market quite like it.  The uses are endless, the side effects minimal comparatively.

If you live in the USA, you might find that your freedom from pain is limited.  The USA does not support the use of medical marijuana; this is the reason for the post.

My friend, is disabled from MS, he has government insurance and cannot afford his MS medicine.  He grew his own Medical Marijuana.  It helped him focus and it decreased his pain.  The only thing he used that actually took his pain away.

Someone tipped off the local police authorities and he was beaten in front of his wife and children.  He cannot walk and was taken down by four officers, who later claimed that he tried to run.  Now stay with me; he cannot walk.  He is weak with pain and has major health issues form his condition.

His children were not privy to his use of "medicine" and neither were any of his friends, including me.  We all found out the hard way, by reading about it.  The family is now being tortured by their own community.  So here is the dilemma: Does one suffer from an illness or does that person find comfort in a non-traditional medicine?

We as a nation need to do something to change minds.  Currently in 48 states, the use of medical marijuana is prohibited.  We need to find a way to take the bad connotations out of marijuana use.  Understand something; I am not pro drug use.  I am not into gangs, violence and health risks associated with the use of drugs.  I also am NOT pro alcohol.  I think alcohol related deaths are unacceptable, but I also think people have the right to drink.  I also think people have the right to shoot insulin, and take aspirin.  The same goes to marijuana.

Now if you are a pot-head for the sake of smoking pot, this message is not for you.  I am not pro pot-head, but I am a Libertarian.  We need to change laws and minds about the use of MEDICAL marijuana.

Californians that have valid prescriptions, how many have you heard shooting people?  Or hitting and killing a family in a mini van while intoxicated?  Or robbing a bank with their posse?  I am going to go out on a limb here, but none.  If you have, please comment and tell me, I am curious.

People are suffering from ailments that can be helped by the use of marijuana.  Please stand with me and give these people relief from a Government elected to protect them and their pain.

This man and his family need your help.  Let them hear your voice.  Please stand with me to alleviate his pain, stop police brutality and STOP the Witch Hunt.

The constitution no longer protects you.

Sacramento is the capital of California?! WOW!

    Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 04:43 PM [General]

I am a little embarrassed to say, that I had no idea that Sacramento was the capital of California.  It really is no wonder.  My football coach was also my geography/history teacher.  I am surprised I learned what little I did!

My best buddy, Libby and her hubby allowed me to accompany them last spring to their old stomping grounds in Maryland.  Her husband's family is SO fun!!!  I so enjoyed my time with them and their home.  They took me to all of the touristy places in Washington DC like the National Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.  All of it was so stimulating and interesting!  I learned so much and was so surprised to find out how much I did not know.

I am a US Citizen and I had no idea about 90% of what we saw...I was thinking "Good thing I do not have to take the US Citizen Test, I would be in BIG trouble!"  I salute those who do have to take that test and pass, I think they are more American than I am...troubling.

Anywho, I thought it was just DC history I had missed, but earlier today I found out that Sacramento was the capital of California.  Yes, I said today I learned this.  I am 26 or 27 years old and just learned that.  So...it appears I am not smarter than a 5th grader!

How can we improve ourselves, if we do not know what to work on, right?!  (Just say yes!)

    :)

Your Sun Sign: Virgo Sun 27° Virgo 22' What's a sun sign?

    Element:
    Earth Key Planet:
    Mercury

The Virgin is highly discriminating, but not necessarily as prudish at some might believe. In ancient times, a Virgin was a woman who was not the property of man, and therefore had the legal right to just say "no." Now, in modern times, you Virgos are known for your ability to be highly discriminating -- especially when it comes to matters of personal desire. When you are ready, however, to say yes, the laser-like focus of your passion is anything but prudish.

Motto: "Perfect is almost good enough."
Greatest Strength: Your ability to focus your attention
Possible Weakness: Need for perfection gets in the way of enjoyment

Your Moon Sign: Gemini Moon 22° Gemini 07' What's a moon sign?

Feelings can flutter and shift in the blink of an eye with the Moon in Gemini, allowing you to adjust to changing situations with ease. It's sticking to a routine that's challenging since variety is your favorite flavor. Jobs that allow you to wear more than one hat are perfect for your needs. You're usually comfortable talking about your feelings, finding it relatively easy to see the emotional patterns in your life and discuss them openly. But it's also possible that you use your mind to "float" above unpleasant feelings by explaining your way around them, rather than engaging with them on a gut level. This non-rational realm is less familiar to you, one that you generally avoid, but it has vital truths for you, even if they can't be put into words.

Motto: "Change is the essence of life ."
Greatest Strength: Your capacity to talk about your feelings
Possible Weakness: Difficulty sticking to a plan

Your Rising Sign: Virgo Ascendant 6° Virgo 21' What's a rising sign?

Virgo Rising usually gives an individual a very careful approach to new people and situations. This is a modest and cautious sign, that can make you come across as a modest person. But Virgo is also a helpful sign, so you often enter situations with the goal of lending a hand. If you're in a leadership position, keep your eye on the big picture, rather than getting sidetracked with small tasks that others should handle. You might also be more critical about your appearance and your behavior than you need to be, but the little imperfections that can seem so big to you are probably not noticeable to others.

    Motto: "I'm here to help."
Greatest Strength: Putting practical matters first
    Possible Weakness: Downplaying your abilities

    Your Chinese Sign: The Rooster

The ROOSTER ... THE RESILIENT ROOSTER

Mantra: I am proud of who I am.

Efficient and intelligent, Roosters love to show off their talents. They want to be the center of attention but at the same time are very generous to their friends and loved ones. They appear outwardly very strong-willed and energetic but are actually full of fear and worries on the inside. Committed to themselves, Roosters are hypercritical of everything and everyone, especially if they are not getting enough respect from the other animals on the farm. They can be inflexible and compulsive, with beliefs and opinions that tend toward fanaticism.

    New Name

    Tuesday, April 29, 2008, 10:34 AM [General]

had a dream last night that I had a different name.  I kind of enjoyed it.  Not that a name makes who you are, but still it was something very different from normal.  In my dream my name was Agnes, but people called me Agie.

I was the same person, but the name gave me freedom to be...more!  Funny, that nothing is stopping me from being more than me, or more comfortable to be myself.  But the power of a new identity is...well, big!

So here I am....Agie at your service!  :)

If you had to scramble for your dinner every day of your life, you'd probably want to hide a stash of nuts and berries too, if not for yourself then for your tribe.

Ha ha! You're pretty awesome too. I love your tat!

I read something once that all humans used to be psychically connected but as we became "civilized" and started acquiring things, we closed off our minds to others. I guess it's part of our greedy nature. What good is finding a hoard of nuts or a primo berry patch if everyone else can read the location from your brain?

"It's all mine! Mine, I say!"
