    Freedom from Pain

    Monday, June 30, 2008, 10:18 PM [General]

A very good friend of mine has Multiple Sclerosis.  He has the secondary progressive type.  A very scary thing to find out that one of your greatest friends has MS.  Some of you might know that treatment is very far off.  The National MS Society recently published an article on the use of medical marijuana and the treatment of MS.

Several countries (Not USA) have developed marijuana in a pill form that not only decreases pain but also helps with the cramps and muscle spasms that are often felt when a person suffers from MS.  The pill is also administered to cancer patients undergoing Chemo-Therapy to increase appetite and also help to keep down food.

I know several people who use marijuana as medicine and nothing more.  I know doctors, lawyers, sales associates, and disabled alike that use medical marijuana.  Unfortunately, there is nothing on the Pharmaceutical market quite like it.  The uses are endless, the side effects minimal comparatively.

If you live in the USA, you might find that your freedom from pain is limited.  The USA does not support the use of medical marijuana; this is the reason for the post.

My friend, is disabled from MS, he has government insurance and cannot afford his MS medicine.  He grew his own Medical Marijuana.  It helped him focus and it decreased his pain.  The only thing he used that actually took his pain away.

Someone tipped off the local police authorities and he was beaten in front of his wife and children.  He cannot walk and was taken down by four officers, who later claimed that he tried to run.  Now stay with me; he cannot walk.  He is weak with pain and has major health issues form his condition.

His children were not privy to his use of "medicine" and neither were any of his friends, including me.  We all found out the hard way, by reading about it.  The family is now being tortured by their own community.  So here is the dilemma: Does one suffer from an illness or does that person find comfort in a non-traditional medicine?

We as a nation need to do something to change minds.  Currently in 48 states, the use of medical marijuana is prohibited.  We need to find a way to take the bad connotations out of marijuana use.  Understand something; I am not pro drug use.  I am not into gangs, violence and health risks associated with the use of drugs.  I also am NOT pro alcohol.  I think alcohol related deaths are unacceptable, but I also think people have the right to drink.  I also think people have the right to shoot insulin, and take aspirin.  The same goes to marijuana.

Now if you are a pot-head for the sake of smoking pot, this message is not for you.  I am not pro pot-head, but I am a Libertarian.  We need to change laws and minds about the use of MEDICAL marijuana.

Californians that have valid prescriptions, how many have you heard shooting people?  Or hitting and killing a family in a mini van while intoxicated?  Or robbing a bank with their posse?  I am going to go out on a limb here, but none.  If you have, please comment and tell me, I am curious.

People are suffering from ailments that can be helped by the use of marijuana.  Please stand with me and give these people relief from a Government elected to protect them and their pain.

This man and his family need your help.  Let them hear your voice.  Please stand with me to alleviate his pain, stop police brutality and STOP the Witch Hunt.

The constitution no longer protects you.
